We have some amazing news to share tonight! Kerri's sudden progress over the past two days has led to the recommendation by all 4 of her doctors to discharge her to the hotel tomorrow! The new medication, the time factor we have all patiently been waiting for, and of course all of your prayers and well wishes have led to wonderful recovery the past few days which has filled us with joy and gratitude. Dr. Cantu feels she will recover better at the hotel now, and the plan is for discharge tomorrow after they remove her central IV line.
She will have a very long road still ahead (recovery from the ketamine coma could take months, possibly a year). Dr. Cantu explained she will need to recover in very small increments, still using her wheelchair when leaving the house and living on the first floor of our house for awhile.
Tonight Kerri was able to travel down the hall to meet Jessica, one of the most courageous, sweet and inspiring young women we will ever know. Jessica's Mom, Sarah, surprised Kerri with a "custom made for Kerri ketamine coma teddy bear". She will cherish it forever and we can't wait to show it to all of you when we come home. We wish the past month could have allowed Kerri and Jessica to have spent more time together. We are very thankful to Jessica and Sarah for all they have done to help all 3 of us along this journey. Erin and Jeff also really enjoyed meeting them while they were here.
We also hope that John's booster treatments go well for him this week - another amazing family that we have be priviliged to spend time with in Philadelphia and here in Mexico. John, Rosemary, Jennifer and Diane - we wish you a very successful, promising week. Thanks so much for the thoughtful (and delicious!) gift for Kerri.
