Karing 4 Kerri

Late Breaking News

Posted on March 31, 2010 at 12:47 AM

We have some amazing news to share tonight! Kerri's sudden progress over the past two days has led to the recommendation by all 4 of her doctors to discharge her to the hotel tomorrow!  The new medication, the time factor we have all patiently been waiting for, and of course all of your prayers and well wishes have led to wonderful recovery the past few days which has filled us with joy and gratitude.  Dr. Cantu feels she will recover better at the hotel now, and the plan is for discharge tomorrow after they remove her central IV line.

She will have a very long road still ahead (recovery from the ketamine coma could take months, possibly a year).  Dr. Cantu explained she will need to recover in very small increments, still using her wheelchair when leaving the house and living on the first floor of our house for awhile.

Tonight Kerri was able to travel down the hall to meet Jessica, one of the most courageous, sweet and inspiring young women we will ever know.  Jessica's Mom, Sarah, surprised Kerri with a "custom made for Kerri ketamine coma teddy bear".  She will cherish it forever and we can't wait to show it to all of you when we come home.  We wish the past month could have allowed Kerri and Jessica to have spent more time together.  We are very thankful to Jessica and Sarah for all they have done to help all 3 of us along this journey.  Erin and Jeff also really enjoyed meeting them while they were here.

We also hope that John's booster treatments go well for him this week - another amazing family that we have be priviliged to spend time with in Philadelphia and here in Mexico.  John, Rosemary, Jennifer and Diane - we wish you a very successful, promising week.  Thanks so much for the thoughtful (and delicious!) gift for Kerri.

Kerri, I can't begin to tell you how happy we are that you are at the Hotel and
you are going home on Friday. Thank you Mark and Kathy, for calling to let
me know. May God keep you in the palm of his hand, and guide you to a
full recovery!!!! Have a safe trip home and we will be in touch soon. We will
give you a little time to get settled in at home, before we visit you. Take care
and take your time. Just get better/ We love you so much.

What awesome news! Actually I had insider information that I believe you are now AT the hotel. What a huge step. I am sure it is good to be out of the hospital. I am so excited for you that you have seemed to make such tremendous progress in the last few days with some of your side effects from the coma.

I will continue to pray for you as you continue to recover. Dr Cantu is right, it is a long, slow process, but I can tell you, worth every second. I know you can do it, Kerri. Your attitude will go farther than I can explain to you in words. Awesome job girl!

Hope to get to see you one of these times when you are back in Philly for your follow up appointments.

God Bless,

I am so releived! Nana called last night to tell me that Kerri was able to talk to them on Skype for a few minutes. Great news!!!! How I wish you would be home for Easter but I guess we will all be quite happy with our Easter miracle happening in Mexico. The doctor's there sound so wonderful. It would be nice if we all could learn from their culture and practice a bit more faith & patience. Kerri, keep the faith and all be be well. If there is one small thing I have learned through years of illness is that if you can keep a positive atitude and always trust that things will be better- they usually are.

I send you all of our love!

What great news! Kerri, we are so proud of your bravery, patience, and ability
to cope with the health issues you were given. All the prayers and love that
you were given during this time, have brought you back. We understand that
you have a long road to full recovery, but you are on your way, and the prayers
will continue, until you are completely healed. What a blessing you are in our
lives. It won't be long until you will return home, with your mom and dad, to
a sister and a fiance, who miss you very much. We love you and will be
looking forward to your return. We are sending hugs and kisses.

I am so cheered by the news! Bon Voyage Kerri! May God give you a good few days to recup in the hospital and I wish you a safe travel home. When I left, I, too was in the wheelchair for months. It is your road to recovery rather than a regression. Keep that focus and so glad the meds are working well for you! Praise God!

Been keeping vigil up here in NJ and keeping you all in my prayers. I was so happy to read the amazing news this morning about Kerri's recovery. Sounds like Kerri is getting amazing care down there in Mexico! Hope the discharge goes as planned ... and that Kerri can settle in at the hotel. Looks like it will be an especially joyous Easter for the Jarvis Family this year.
We will continue to keep Kerri and the family in our prayers ...
with love .... Teri

Yes, yes, yes! What wonderful news. The sun is shining today in Glen Mills and now I know why. Erin said was able to Skype with Kerri last night and she was bubbling about it in her email note to us. Good luck with the transition today and we will pray extra long for Kerri's continued improvement.

Wonderful News!

I just read your great news about Kerri. I'm often up late, and decided to check your blog one more time before going to bed, and I'm very glad I did! Everyone's prayers have been answered, and the fact that Kerri can now recover in the hotel, is the best news yet. May this just be the beginning of wonderful things to come.

Also, we hope that all the friends you've met in Mexico or before, who are undergoing the ketamine treatments will do well.

So good night for now, and sleep well. Tomorrow, will be an exciting day for all of you.

Take care. Bonnie, Allan, and Jackie
