Karing 4 Kerri

Kerri Gets Discharged from Hospital San Jose

Posted on April 1, 2010 at 1:41 AM

We are so happy to let you know that Kerri was indeed discharged from the hospital today and we are all enjoying time back at the Sheraton hotel. She had been having difficulty seeing and focusing probably due to medications, but was able to look at the computer a bit tonight to Skype with Jeff and Jen for a few minutes on her own. She tires easily, as is to be expected, and was eager to climb into bed after the trip home from the hospital. It was so nice to just relax and watch a little bit of TV  tonight with Kerri. Having her well enough to simply sit and talk to us feels like heaven!

Leaving the hospital today felt as amazing as when we first took her home as a baby. In some ways it feels like a new beginning for her. We can never thank the wonderfu people at Hospital San Jose for the amazing care they have given to "our girl".

Dr. Cantu is planning on coming to the hotel sometime tomorrow to check on Kerri. He says there is no reason why we cannot bring her home on Friday. That was the day our flights were scheduled to return home, but at the time they were made, it was just a convenient day to book them since it will be one month since we came. We had no idea that would actually be the day we travel home. Originally we thought we'd possible be moving them to an earlier date. Then as time went on we never thought we'd be home by then. What a wonderful week this has been. A few days ago we were starting to think that Mark would need to leave soon to come home without us, and now we're preparing to bring Kerri home together!

Life is good. Thanks everyone.

Such wonderful news! We're thinking of all of you and am so happy that Kerri can come home on Friday. I'm sure Erin is counting the seconds until you're all home with her in PA. Jackie is coming home tonight for the weekend, and I'll tell her this wonderful news when she arrives, unless, of course, she talks to Jeff before.

Relax, rest, have a safe journey home. We'd love to talk with you a few days after you've arrived home, if possible, and of course, we'd love to speak with Kerri when she's strong enough to take calls.

Love, Bonnie, Allan, and Jackie

I'm so happy you all will get to see Erin soon and things will slowly return to 'normal', just with a new and improved kerri! P.s, i read this at work, and actually made one of those girly "awwwww"s when i read that you said it was as amazing as bringing her home from the hospital as a baby! =) Life is SO good now!

I am thrilled with you! Though, I guess this means I will not see you next week when I return. This is a wonderful day for you. Enjoy your last few days in Monterrey! What an Easter celebration there will be for you! So many blessings and answered prayers. Stay strong Kerri, I will keep praying that each day gets better and better.

How cool is that! Wish we were able to give you all a big hug and jump up and down with you in your excitement! Our church family was so amazed and excited when I told them you were checking out of the hospital yesterday. Just wait until they hear you are heading home tomorrow! Our prayers will continue for recovery but they will also be so full of thanksgiving for being able to return home! We love you all and are overjoyed with your great news!

What great news! We are so happy that Kerri is improving everyday. You will be home before you know it. We will continue to pray. Every Friday at school my classmates ask for the Kerri update. Love you and miss you!!
